 Stephen Abrams is an independent scholar with research interest in the stewardship of cultural memory.  Dr. Abrams was formerly the inaugural Head of Digital Preservation at the Harvard Library (2018-2026), Associate Director of the UC Curation Center at the California Digital Library (2009-2018), and Digital Library Program Manager at the Harvard Library (1999-2008).  He holds a BA in Mathematics from Boston University, an ALM in History of Art and Architecture from Harvard University, and a PhD in Information Science from Queensland University of Technology.  Dr. Abrams was named a Digital Preservation Pioneer by the Library of Congress in 2008 and received an Individual Excellance Award from the NDSA in 2023.
